Spot of death
At 335 this morning I heard it.....loud......
Ethel singing the song of her people.
However this morning, it was different. The word furtive comes to mind.
The realization of what that particular yowl meant hit me like a freight train. I flew flew flew out of bed. Yes I meant that three times. In the hallway was Ethel pacing back and forth.
"Where is it Ethel? No seriously where is...OH mother of God (that's about as close as I can get to reality). Now let me first say that The sight of a mouse rarely bothers me and I am not a screamer unless you piss me off
However,
The unmistakable crunch under my bare foot is something I will never forget.
Oh yes people.....share...my joy
Mice are waking up from hibernation. We have them in the shed and under the deck I think. They are finding their way into the house.
Ethel, Fred and Mia are ecstatic. Oh and busy
They have never brought them upstairs before.
Will I sleep tonight? Remains to be seen. On so many levels.
So my gift to you all tonight:
Mice are easily camouflaged on an Oriental rug.
and
Tonight I sleep in shoes.
