Kitchen Test

Kinda took day off work today as it's too cold to do any mudding on the walls. Needs to be a little warmer than it is.

So we went down to the new house. We have a target to be moved in by Christmas and there is soooo much work to do. Not least earn enough money to buy a new kitchen.

But whilst we're planning that new kitchen we need to see how things lay out. The old kitchen had a build out to the right - so I chopped it off with a sawzall and put it in the middle to show where the island in the new kitchen will go.

I want this kitchen to be perfect for my wife. Perfect. I want her to be happy, and she knows that if it ain't perfect, I'll spend the next 20 years being nagged to death about why her kitchen isn't perfect. The other reason to have a perfect kitchen is because she genuinely enjoys cooking - wouldn't you want a perfect kitchen then?

Another thing is that today the kitchen has become the centre of the house. In the past it was a small room pushed off to the side, but in modern times it's the centre of the house, which is exactly what we want to make from this kitchen.

The other nice thing is that we did a quick budget of how much it'll cost and it's quite reasonable really. Could be much much worse I suppose.

The real question is whether we buy the new fridge. We've seen the one we want, door-in-door. If you don't know what that is - ask a woman. I was shown door-in-door and heck if I had $3,500 available to me on Monday I'd have bought it there and then. Door-in-door.

The other nice thing about taking a sawzall to these cabinets is that they have no further life now which I'm quite pleased about. We can't suddenly say "hey, lets keep these cabinets and do something with them". Nope. Not gonna happen now!
