cabinets everywhere!
At least they are in place now . . . and very successful installation too, I might add. Just two and a half days for all this work, 2 brothers working together. I chose to do a photo collage again to try to give you a better picture of how things are arranged. The color of the cabinets is most like the large photo, I think the lighting was best when I took it. Solid maple wood with a Honey finish. The big empty box of a cabinet in the wall is where the ovens will go. The empty space kind of under the glass cabinet is for the dishwasher, and the cooktop will be in the middle of the counter facing the living area. The square cabinet in front of the fridge is a small island -a landing place for things in and out of the fridge and ovens. More details in large.
When we started this project I was hoping perhaps to get a new refrigerator even though this one you see here was new when we moved in only 15 months ago. I found the storage/design is not to my liking, after all. But Steven wanted to get more use out of it and I said okay -I mean, how could I complain? I could put up with it, I was getting a new kitchen! The funny thing is that when they put the cabinets that surround the fridge in, we realized this one stuck out too much! It is a standard depth. Steven himself said, that is just not going to cut it with our small island right there. He heartily agreed I should go look for a counter depth fridge = 6 or 7" less in depth. This will give us a bit more room, plus look better. Ha!! Glad I said yes and did not put up a fight originally! How'd that work out I got my wish anyway? : ) hmmm... lucky me, I will count my blessings.
The measuring to make the template to cut the granite counters is Friday! It will be 2-3 weeks before they return to install it and there are still tiles to put down in the living room and painting to do.... but it is happening!
