Wildfire
What started as stunning blue skies gradually became inundated in a vast panorama of smoke stretching from mountain to ocean, the sun occluded as shadows descended on homes and the birds began to nest for what they believed was evening. An experience which I can only liken to that of an Eclipse : smoke from the terrible wildfires in the Los Angeles Forest from weeks of blazing temperatures in what should otherwise have been weeks of cooler days and much longed for rains and storms. When it reached the Pacific, colors fell on the beach that I haven't seen before, a hazy pinkness, so beautiful were the cause not so devastating. My thoughts go out to all those affected today and for the bravest souls, the emergency services, who put themselves in danger for the sake of others.
