Teenagers, Reading, and Passion

I had a great start to the day by witnessing how smartly and passionately teenagers can talk about books when they are guided well and when they read what they are interested in reading. One of my colleagues invited me to her class today. They were watching literature circle book review videos they prepared as their summative assessment assignment. The whole thing was just so creative and intelligent! These teenagers were talking about their favorite characters and quotes, they were discussing the theme and how it relates to their lives, they were elaborating on how their book has changed them, they were asking questions, and they were laughing. And the best thing was to see how engaged, involved, and passionate they were when they were talking about books.
I am so lucky to have such inspirational teachers and students around me.
