The mighty Iguassu Falls taken from the air!
Did it! Went in a helicopter and flew over these immense and powerful falls, it was incredible to be able to see the extent of one of the New Wonders of the Modern World at first hand. Iguassu means big water and I couldn't think of a better description they really are huge.
Yesterday we walked along the Argentinian side in the subtropical rain forest seeing monkeys and other wildlife which the most beautiful coloured butterflies, some as large as dinner plates flew around.
We walked to the Devils Throat where half of the river's flow falls into a long and narrow chasm which is U-shaped, 82 metres high, 150 m wide, and 700 m long and stood in the spray just to cool down!
Today we have crossed the border into Brazil and seen the falls from the Brazilian side which is quite different, far more shaded and lush and less walking in the open. You can't decide which side is best as they are so different and totally beautiful, but to see them from the air....well that's just so special! Hope you agree!
