Like any other school we have an assembly hall. But, unlike others, ours is called the Banqueting Hall. It dates from the 12 century. The school was once the summer residence for the Archbishops of Canterbury.

I believe these initials are those of Thomas Herring, who was archbishop from 1747 to 1757. The carving is high up on one of the beams in Banqueting Hall.
