Total Station
A work picture of my total station. A total station is an electronic theodolite, capable of measuring horizontal and vertical angles, with the added ability to measure distances through air down the axis of the telescope. If you combine this basic measurements with some clever on board software you can do all sorts of on the fly spatial calculations and measurements. This model is autolock and robotic meaning it can lock and follow the prism on top of the pole being carried by the operator.
I can't say where this is exactly but the water in the distance is the Sound of Mull
