Living on the Edge

The heat is nowhere as intense today. I had hoped it would be cool. Only nostalgia drives me.

At the lagoon approaching midday, vehicles had filled most rest area parking spots and overflow spilled onto the roadside of North Terrace. Once on the highway to Melbourne/Adelaide and now a place of casual dalliance since the bypass has been built, people here are not in a great hurry to get anywhere by the by. Numbers of the cars had bicycles in racks on their hoods. Travellers and supporters no doubt going to take part in the Santos Down Under 2014.

The race is dubbed a festival of cycling. For interested parties here is a link to the website of tour down under.

Thank you for all your wishes and thoughts extended my way and to affected areas result of the heat wave. Very kind. 300, 000 hectares have burned was the latest report I heard and there have been losses of property. Final news is not to hand yet regarding loss of life. Weather conditions have eased where the fires are still burning.
