Ascending
We left Nelson today, after 5 days of an oasis of calm and care. We stayed with Sara's distant relative Chris Feltham and his lovely wife Carly. Despite having never even spoken to each other (a few emails preceded our visit) they welcomed us into their lovely home and were to perfect hosts. They were attentive, helpful, fun, and supplied us with great food, endless information, tasty wine and entertaining conversation. Our departure came with mixed feelings; on the one hand it was sad to say goodbye to two lovely people we may never see again, but on the other we climbed onto the train to Christchurch to pick up our next camper-van so we can devour the rest of the South Island.
This photo is of a piece of art in the Feltham's sitting room. It made me smile whenever I caught sight of the stringy man ascending their wall. He has such a quiet determination and I wish him the best of luck in his climb. He seems to know where he's heading, and probably has quite the story to tell.
