Toasted pears?
Sorry, not a very good or interesting photo, but this is what 5 days in a row of 38º, 43º, 43º, 44º and 44º C does to pears on the tree. Luckily, most of the pears are hiding under leaves, so only the exposed ones look like this. More of the apples have been pre-baked, as they tend to be more exposed on the tree. Very reminiscent of Black Saturday 2009 (46.7ºC). The year after that intense heat, the harvest was three pears off my two trees. Could be a poor crop next year.
(The image is also taken through the netting, which doesn't help much.)
Perfect temperature today (25º) – spent time in the garden assessing the damage. Had to pull up all my nasturtiums – burnt to a crisp. But they always come back.
