GATHERED FROM THE GARDEN

The best time is early in the morning. In my basket is a big bunch of Swiss Chard that will be turned into phyllo pastry pockets with feta cheese, olives and a squeeze of lemon juice. The zinnias with their hot pinks, reds and oranges are a delight in the garden at the moment and will make a cheerful posy for the house. In the arrangement the rose scented pelargonium leaves and pink heritage roses will make up for the zinnia's lack of perfume. Hidden in the yellow Graham Thomas rose is a black and yellow fruit beetle that I was tempted to blip but will leave to its own devices!
