Wet Peebles, wet Tesco...

There's an article in the press today saying that the days of the large supermarkets are ending. Small to medium sized outlets are a better bet. No surprise then that the big retailers have spent the last years expanding rapidly into that part of the market.

Peebles has kept the High Street mainly independent businesses. Boots, WH Smith, and Greggs are the only nationals. Sainsbury and Tesco are close to the centre.

Whereas in many places the Bug Five have been accused of sucking the life out of high street shopping - here, at least so far, the balance feels right.
