Out-of-placeman
I thought I was going to have to resort to a rebus today, because I knew that a trip to Cirencester was not going to produce a result for the word of the day, which is placeman: 'A person who is appointed (or aspires) to a position, esp. in government service, for personal profit and as a reward for political support; a yes-man.' (OED). I spotted this in a woman's clothing shop - it is a man and he looks distinctly out of place (and if he isn't, then the eyelashes most certainly are). I'm therefore taking liberties with today's word and creating the nonce formation - linguistically speaking - out-of-placeman.
Day #18 of a 365 project, where the daily pic is informed by the OED word of the day.
