Timeless...

The fen reeds rustled in the gentle breeze, providing a gentle backdrop to the robin's song. It felt like spring was creeping closer.

This morning, while doing a bit of tidying, I came across my 'What to Look for in Winter' Ladybird book. The wonderful paintings by Tunnicliffe instantly transported me back to my childhood, and I suddenly realised that the whole series (together with others on Pond Life and Birds) had a very major influence on my final career choice as a botanist and ecologist. I still relive the seasonal succession every year, and I suspect that even my photographic style has been influenced by Tunnicliffe's beautifully composed vignettes.
