Piper Alpha
This is the memorial for the 167 men who lost their lives in the Piper Alpha Disaster in 1988. There was an explosion which set the rig on fire. Only 59 men survived. It's been the world's worst oil related disaster and affected the industry massively.
This memorial has been put in place in a beautiful rose garden in Hazlehead Park in Aberdeen with the names of every man who was killed engraved in gold. I took the kids there leaf collecting today.
