An hours walk out this afternoon in the sunshine at Foxton locks.
The main staircase is of two groups of five locks. This was taken on the the top link from the main canal to the top of the inclined plane. The Inclined Plane was a major feat of engineering at the start of the twentieth century that saw two massive containers hauled two barges from the bottom to the top of the hill in 12 minutes replacing the lock transit time of 45 minutes.

The inclined plane worked only for ten years.
