Hopes of Spring

Out for a walk on the Loch Leven Heritage trail with the dog this afternoon I was amazed to see that the broom along the riverbank has begun to bloom.
Although we've had an awful lot of rain it has been incredibly mild for January. This afternoon in particular was positively balmy. Clearly the broom is responding because the bushes were in bud with some actual flowers. The shame is that if we do get a spell of 'normal' winter weather with hard frosts and/ or snow they will disappear. However, it's so lovely to enjoy the blooms while they last. :-)
