The Long Road

Another trip to Poole to visit Dad today.

These trees form the Beech Avenue running alongside Badbury Rings. There's 731 along a gently undulating 2.5 miles of near straight road.

It's rather lovely, but the trees are nearing the end of their lives and some have fallen or been replaced by newer smaller ones.

All that feels rather more poignant having seen Dad today. We all went and visited him in the home he was taken to just two days ago. He has declined so quickly. He is barely with us at the moment. The children found it quite upsetting, but I think the tears are an important and necessary part of the journey.

I'm glad we went today.
