A Very Big Birthday Party!

This is the cake, made by one of my sisters-in-law, for the big family event this weekend and very delicious it was too:-)

My husband and I flew down to Southampton to join the rest of the family at a local hotel to celebrate his Mum's 90th birthday and a wonderful evening was had by all. It included meeting up with family members we only ever see at these times (weddings, funerals etc) and being totally amazed at how children last seen as babies have shot up and changed beyond all recognition!

There was a "This is Your Life" style presentation of Mum's 90 years, which had people laughing and crying in equal measure and enough presents and cards to sink a battleship. The hotel even presented her with a lovely bottle of champagne on the house!

We left reasonable early, but some of the younger ones partied on into the night and even the birthday girl stayed up until midnight:-) Where do they get the stamina?
