"to live...."
"I don't want to survive. I want to live...."
This is THE most Oscar worthy film I've ever seen!
Steve McQueen is a directing genius! He said in an interview about the film that he wants his audience to try and stop themselves from looking away when it gets difficult to watch. They pushed the boundaries of the film because none of us today have an excuse to still be blind to what went on at this time in our world's history.
The film has it all - based on a true story it has superb acting, moments of laughter, tears, despair, moments of silence to realise the truth of what's going on, but also the unwavering hope that one day all would be free....
I highly recommend this film to everyone! Next on my list, Dallas Buyers Club to see Matthew McC in his guaranteed Oscar winning role! He's come a long way since his days of staring in romantic comedies, but he'll always be my Benjamin Barry (How to Lose a Guy in 10 days)
Oh, and before I forget - Mr Cumberbatch himself is in 12 Years a Slave, so perhaps my opinion of the film is slightly biased! haha!!
In all seriousness - go and see it!! :)
