"No parlo Americano"

This is Alex, my cousin's son. They are over from Spain visiting. Alex speaks no English, though I suspect he understands a lot more than he lets on. Seeing him tonight lost in the swarm of English conversation around him reminded me of what it was like when I was travelling South America and couldn't understand a thing that anyone was saying. It makes you feel very uncomfortable and isolated. I hope the next time he returns he has more English and my Spanish has improved. It would be nice to converse with him and find out more about him.
