Side "block"

It's a good thing that I decided to walk this morning instead of driving. Look at what I stumbled upon while walking around Jackson, MS. There is good and bad design everywhere. This picture demonstrates the latter. Although we will not have telephone poles in our courtyard, there are other structures that we must carefully locate (light poles, bike racks, benches, etc.). As designers, we have a responsibility to not only execute designs that are functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also designs that are safe for those who use it. Let's avoid a situation like the one pictured above.
