Euphorbia

I have a lot of little potted succulents that are in this genus, but I hadn't even seen them take the form of a flowering stalk before.

I got three stalks (for only $3!) at the Farmers' Market today. The friendly man selling them said that the good thing about them is that they will last in water for weeks - the bad thing is that the stalks exude a bit of white sticky sap that, if it comes in contact with the eyes, can cause a lot of pain. Hmm! I put them in a tall vase and avoided cutting them altogether so my eyes are doing just fine.
