Rejoice and sing!
Trinity Episcopal Cathedral choir members during all-day Hymnathon.
Ornate is today's DDW challenge.
The ornate inlay in the gleaming wood floor is part of Trinity's labyrinth, similar to the one at Chartres.
The other ornate aspect of this image can't be seen, but you might be able to hear it. It's the descants the choir sang as it worked its way through the Hymnal 1982 from #1 to #720 in one frenetic day. The Hymnathon is a fundraiser to support the choir's travel to spend a week in August 2014 singing Evensong at Bristol Cathedral. (Sorry, DDW, not your Bristol.) Trinity has a magnificent choir with a terrific organist, so if you're in the 'hood in August, give yourself a treat.

Last but definitely not least....
Mary Anne sang her first Eucharist today at Trinity. When I received communion from her, she was absolutely glowing.
Bill the Dean preached one of his best sermons ever.
The final hymn was the 'Black National Anthem,' Lift Every Voice and Sing. I love this song but I had trouble getting through it because I was so choked up!
Oh, and I promised to pray for earthdreamer, and I did.
It was a bright and beautiful day in every way. Sunshine within and without.
