Three KIngs
Three Kings Day (January 6) is a popular holiday in Puerto Rico. On January 5, children create boxes, write cartas (English: letters) to the three kings inside the boxes. Children then go outside and gather grass to fill the boxes. They then fill bowls of water, and put the boxes and water next to the Christmas tree. I think some kids must decorate their boxes because saw one young girl out gathering grass with the most fantastically sparkly blinged out box. I appreciated her box decorating moxy. The grass and water are for the three kings' camels to munch on while the three kings are inside delivering their gifts.
I was lucky enough to celebrate Three King's Day in Puerto Rico this year. There was a ton of delicious homemade Three Kings day food, Three Kings Day songs, and family togetherness. It was nice to experience
