Trinkets or Treasures
Years ago, my late Aunt Agatha spent time serving in an orphanage in Jordan. While she was away we received beautiful cards with real pressed flowers and thin shavings of olive wood. On her return she brought gifts - ornately carved wooden camels, brass vases and mother-of-pearl pins.
The mother-of-pearl inlay trinket box pictured here was among her things. Inside there were no precious jewels, but rather her neatly labelled collection of rocks from the Middle East. Go large to see the inlay and types of rocks more clearly.
We did love our Aunt. She never failed to be attentive to her nieces and nephews. Sometimes I think she may have preferred the young ones to the adults! I do treasure these few keepsakes from her.
