Burma-Mrauk-U

The ancient capital of Rakhine state-Mrauk-U ( pronounced Meow-u) is extremely poor now. These kiddies were spending their day collecting worms, their peers, water. In the 15 and 16th centuries it was a wealthy, royal trading capital. It's a great place to visit. Unlike Bagan, the locals have not been moved on from the area surrounding the pagodas. They remain guardians of their local pagoda and treat rare visitors with warm curiosity.
