Evening Badminton
Badminton is not easy to play after the sun goes down behind the mountains of Burma, but that didn't stop the kids at the children's home from trying to play. That is, until the dinner whistle was blown. The kitchen/meal room, an open-air building behind me, is where the kids and an adult help cook Karen food for each meal. One dish we had was a curry with pork and potatoes, another was a fish and vegetable soup. Everything is eaten with rice.
The day begins with breakfast and then school in the building in the background, about 40 kids, 8 teachers, 6 grade levels. They mostly speak the Karen language. However, they are trying to learn Burmese, Thai, and English.
