The Belated Nightingale
Do not despair of the Belated Nightingale when it arrives in Autumn for its drunken refrain serves to remind us that the cheerless days of Winter will soon be a thing of the past. Singing through the night, under a cloak of darkness, the Robin charms and entertains long after the bird with the loud voice has left for warmer climes. Except, here on the Isle of Mull, the Belated Nightingale is the bird with the loud voice, at a time when all around is silence.
