Machu Picchu Day 2
Today, as we had been warned, was the hardest day of the trek. Not as long as some of the others but just incredibly steep. However our guide thought that we were doing well and so asked us if we were willing to go even further for the day. As it gave us a sense that we were better than the other hikers as well as got us closer to our final destination we said yes.
We climbed the first, and biggest peak, and it was quite an accomplishment. It was steep, it was hard and by the time we got to the top, cold. Today's blip was taken from this peak and in it you can see two of my friends, Courtney and Willy, about to summit it. Once we made our way slowly down this peak we stopped and had lunch at the spot which would have been our campsite.
Instead after lunch we continued on until we climbed the next peak. As you might have guessed it was another steep climb but did lead us to another beautiful campsite. I was well worn out by this time, with a headache, but some drugs and a quick lie down helped to clear it up. We played cards, had another incredible dinner and before long were in bed.
