Za

... as she was known to everyone. Her real name was Zoe Ireland and she was my mother in law who died some years ago now.

Za was a very unique and colorful character: an artist of some renown, mother of 6 and a wonderful mother in law.

She held her last art exhibition at the age of 85 and her work is now used by the Elam School of Arts in their teaching curriculum.

This is a self portrait when she was in her 50s. She adored purple. Her granddaughter Zara has this portrait along with purple mementos in celebration of her life. Zara also loves purple - I blipped her here.
