The Lothar Oak
Horrible weather, neither one thing or the other so fled to the Bannwald in Ottobeuren. It tried snowing as I took the photo even though it actually looks quite dry. Luna has been Bliped in the tree before. She's now 18 months old and I think she will stay the small, sleek type she is - it's reflects her character.
Having reported yesterday on the German AA (ADAC) being found out to be yet another "granite"institution which had cheated, the whole issue has been occupying my mind. On the walk which takes us past the Forest Kindergarten, I wondered who these children will have as role models/idols, people or institutions they can trust, although they may not be "fans".
Many of mine have been badly tainted - just take the BBC as a example: It's own image blown along with most of the DJ's I grew up with. I'm pleased at least that John Peel is "resting in peace". Jimmy Young, Terry Wogan and Tony Blackburn were not really my thing. Now thats the light side of life; ADAC, Banks, Churches ...... and thats just ABC...... Please, please Sir David Attenborough, keep to fur, feathers and scales.
This is not made up ... when we had nearly finished the walk, my mobile bleeped to say an e-mail received. It was from The Guardian newspaper asking me to nominate my candidate for the "Observer Ehical Award 2014".
Well here is my shortlist:
Alfred, Angie (the Anglo-Franch one), Beat, Biscuit, Brock, Flash, Hero, Luna, Maggie, Maud, Molly, Murphy, Phoebe, Shadow, Timmy and even GT-t at a push and despite Arthur's veto. They seem to all know a great place to hang around.
Tomorrow midday and the worst is done.... have a good Midweek.
