Ruby Tuesday

Going out for a Ruby Murray is almost an occupational hazard in Scotland.

I remember being introduced to my first Curry Night with work colleagues in the 1980s - the restaurant of choice was the Amran in Hamilton (preceeded by many drinks at The Stonehouse bar).

Later, the drinking haunt of the Brass Band I played with was the 'Cafe Shebab' in Newmains. Twice a week we would head here after a rehearsal for jugs of beer, and we were often fed for free ! When we won a piece of silverware at a weekend competition, we would return here on and all 25 of us would be accommodated (ahead of the other waiting patrons)...the dessert of choice was Ice Cream and Baileys ! We even received Christmas Cards from the cafe owners.

Working in Edinburgh there are many, many possible venues for a work Curry Night. Tonight - we were superbly catered for at the Mumbai Mansion in Morrison Street (Try saying that after a few jugs and a vindaloo!).

Splendid night, surrounded by the wittiest, smartest people I have had the pleasure to work with. Every one a gem (and utterly bonkers).

A Tuesday night treat indeed.
