History lessons

The National Museum of American History, the International Spy museum and above all: the many memorials in this city together form a crash course American history for us non-natives. Here displayed is the memorial for those who fell during the war in Korea.

A lot of pieces fall into place in our heads these days. So many small and big things in every day life in the USA, every day references to the past and names of buildings, streets and cities. It so happened that we chose to do a city trip to Washington to celebrate our anniversary, but in fact, it turned out to be the best destination we could have chosen as new inhabitants of this interesting country. (for the Dutch among you: the expat's version of 'lekker weg in eigen land'!)
