rescuing a tui
Under the auspices of the wildlife rescue centre DawGal is nursing this juvenile tui back to health. He has a problem with his legs, cant stand up very well and falls over mostly. Gotten somewhat filthy with the syringe feeding and was in a bit of a state when he got here anyway. Today a bath, tomorrow he gets to go to get interviewed on Classic hits radio. And as you can see the bath did some magic for him and he looked and surely felt so much better. And better still, tomorrow morning he stood on his perch for the first time.
For those foreigner blippers, the tui is possibly NZ's favourite native bird, they have a characteristic white ruffle under the chin , when adults, and a magnificent repertoire of song.
