indolence

The housekeeper comes twice a week and today was her day. A loud, efficient, cheerful lady she remembered us from last year - even the house number we were in! The old chap thinks this is because not many people lock themselves out and have to find her for her pass key but I think it may have been because we were tidy and good tippers! Whatever, its great that she keeps us in relative good order. Her visits find us tidying up before she comes and this morning the sheets were washed and dried before she got here so we can keep our 'own' sheets and towels while we are here.

We also had a visit from the microwave man - what a joy. I mentioned that the microwave was getting very hot and cutting out to Little John, one of the managers - as opposed to the boss who is Big John - and here was the answer at our door. The fan had shorted out, he had it fixed in a jiffy, fantastic. Great service. I must find a potato or something to actually cook in it rather than just heating things up!

That is the excitement of our day so far! We are both really chilling out, reading our well stocked Kindles mostly and lounging around in the shade on our pretty patio surrounded by flowers, mostly gracefully arching bougainvillea that forms a colourful hedge but some of these pretty yellow trumpets are around too. Absolutely no idea what they are called, I ought to look them up.

We had scrambled eggs for lunch and will make our way to one of the beach shacks later for supper and a walk back along the beach after. We have resisted buying gin yet, it is so cheap (about £2.00 a bottle) that you could clean your teeth with it. We just have the odd drink, Kingfisher beer mostly, when we eat out which seems to be a good compromise to breaking any dry January intentions that may have fleetingly been thought about!

This state of affairs, the dry indolence, will change soon though as we are thinking about stocking up for when our friends come out to visit us for a week when they are on their way south to Kerala, a journey we enjoyed last year - but not by train which is how they arrive from Mumbai!
