Please save/use me….

Having been involved in property for the last 30 years I am always fascinated by buildings of all types. I am also against all "nanny state control" but it does annoy me immensely that we seem happily to tolerate building owners who allow their buildings to fall into complete disrepair. This is an area where I would welcome state intervention to ensure that these old structures are at least kept wind and watertight. They are part of our heritage and will be here, hopefully, long after I have left the planet.
This building has been in this state for many years and I believe that it may in the past have been part of a tannery - thus there may be contamination issues to be addressed. Does this however mean that it should be allowed to collapse - the land will still be contaminated. I am sure that the owner would love to pass it on but each day I am sure its value falls…….
The same argument applies equally to the empty residential property and also all the unoccupied units over shops. In my late Mothers hamlet the local landowner allowed 3 cottages to crumble and would not rent/sell them. To me this was is a criminal!
Sorry rant over……will try to be peaceful tomorrow…….
I have used the antique effect on this picture which I think works - it was tricky to get a decent angle through the Harris fencing.
