Japenese wedding kimono
The back of a Japanese wedding kimono made of silk. Made in about 1950. The colour of a wedding kimono is often dominated by red, a colour that symbolises youth. Red and white together are seen as auspicious. Cranes are believed to be immortal creatures and are symbols of long life and good fortune. I saw this in the Oriental Museum, Durham, UK. Good in large if you want to see the detail of the embroidery.
