Life in the Fast Lane
In any racing series the pit strategy becomes one of the most important features of the race; this is because a race car travelling at 100 miles per hour (160 kilometres per hour) will travel approximately 150 feet (45 metres) per second. During a ten-second pit stop, a car's competitors will gain approximately one-quarter mile (one-half kilometre) over the stopped car.
This little Dear looked like she was not going to make any stops in the pits during her race for any refuelling, new tires, repairs, seat adjustments, a basket change, or any combination of the above.
I was originally set up to take the shot because the sign made an interesting reflection. Then out of the corner of my eye I caught a shape moving quietly into shot. These scooters are so quiet they would probably give any pit crew a whole lot of trouble!
