Desktop Image

I fairly regularly change my desktop image.

This is a painted mural image of a Grey-crowned Crane (Balearica regulorum) photographed in the conference room area at Sun City near Rustenberg.

Its Afrikaans name is Mahem, taken from its call, a highly characteristic, 2-syllabled trumpeting maHEM.

In South Africa it is a locally common resident, but decreasing in some areas, and its Red data book status is 'vulnerable'.
