Scum Bag
Took advantage of the fact that I haven't been called into work (yet) and slept in until 10.23. Lay on the balcony enjoying some sun on my toes and starting a new book, Three Letter Plague by Jonny Steinberg, which is about HIV in Africa and particularly looks at the stigma that surrounds this condition.
Joined Joey and C in their procrastination-related outing to Rose St Artist Market, and J met us over there. Wander round the market, then chickpea and vegetable coconut curry and a mars bar milkshake on Brunswick St. Mmmmm. J and I made a detour via the bike shop on the way home - (finally) bought some proper bike shoes. Now I just have to get used to riding with cleats. Here's hoping my lack of co-ordination doesn't make for any big tumbles.
Off for a swim soon, then to watch the rest of W (Dubya), the video we started last night. Movie slogan is 'A life misunderestimated'. Pretty interesting and well acted (but a bit slow going) story of one of the biggest fools to ever lead a country...
This guy was handing out pamphlets for the market while swigging from a bottle of scotch and puffing on a cigarette. Dressed entirely in leather, with pants clearly made for a much shorter man. His satchel had 'scum bag' written on it in liquid paper. I asked him if I could take his photo. He was all too happy to oblige provided he could stand in the shade. Clearly it was warm under there.
