In Disguise
It took me a while to identify these two until I realised they had taken their summer hat off. They are Black-Headed Gulls (Larus ridibundus as I'm sure you knew) in their winter plumage.
They are apparently the most common gull over most of Europe and like to spend their time in sewage farms and rubbish dumps!! Fortunately these two were much more upmarket and were alongside the Tyne at Hexham.
