A Day At A Time.

Home We Go

And so back to earth with a bump.

CERN is now a long way away and we are all safely back in Spain.

I for one am still buzzing with all that we saw and heard yesterday.

For example, the ATLAS detector has a 100 megapixel camera that takes 400 million pictures per second, the data from which would fill 1000 of my 1 TB hard drives in a second.

If that were all mp3 music, you could listen to the songs for over one thousand years.

Our trip was filled with such extremes. The machine generates both the hottest and coldest places in our galaxy - within a few metres of each other.

I just hope it inspired some of the young geniuses we took with us to do something spectacular with their lives.
