Another Witch Hazel
There are about five or six different kinds of witch hazels. This Hamamelis is a cross between H. mollis and H. japonica, with the cultivar name of Diane. It blooms a little later than my yellow one and is not as fragrant, but its little spider-like flowers are certainly stars when it comes to color.
I was recently reading that witch hazel twigs are a favorite of water-diviners! The pharmaceutical variety is H. virginiana.
