Cardrona
Today has been wonderful. We drove, breakneck pace cos we were late, out to Cardrona. Then, John Wayne style, we mounted our horses. It was peaceful as we trekked through west coast gold town scenery. And hilariously exhilarating went we cantered. This was followed by a tasty lunch & a pint of ale at the famous Cardona hotel - one of the oldest buildings in NZ.
Modernity slapped us in the face at the puzzling world. One of the largest mazes in the world. At one point we almost gave in, but persistence won the day.
We're all now a big grumpy about the 4 hr drive to Milford Sounds (a must see). The sun is blazing, this part of the world is idyllic (highly recommend backcountry saddles for horse trekking) and the camper seems a tough choice right.
Still though, up anchor and off we go.
