The Importance of Reccying

We did a recce today of a walk we are leading soon. It is mostly along green lanes, high walled and sunken. Two parts were just passable, two impassable due to deep water. The latter involved long diversions. The lane may not look bad, surely only wimps walk round, but believe me it was deep. Maybe there was even a horse and cart in there.One lane was going to be used for a motor cycle scramble this Sunday - small notice on tree. A lane in the middle of nowhere was closing soon, no date, due to essential works. We passed yards from a a pheasant shoot - disconcerting grandstand view from the path. We were given a brace - it was like the offer you can't refuse. I walked another four miles carrying them -surprisingly heavy. Obviously the café was closed when we got back. Still there was much to admire, mostly red mire.
