Apparently it is to highlight the plight of the Asian elephants.
They certainly were colourful and easy on the eye brightened up a dull January day...
Join us as the biggest herd of elephants arrives in Nottingham and settles at intu Broadmarsh and intu Victoria Centre for five weeks from Monday 6th January 2014.
Showcasing a spectacular array of giant elephants, each uniquely designed by artists and celebrities, the Elephant Parade tour, presented by intu, aims to highlight the plight of the Asian Elephant.
You'll be able to find 29 large elephants across the city at both Centres as well as an additional one hiding out at the Nottingham Tourism Centre.
A further seven mini elephants will accompany the larger elephants; six of which have been designed by local school pupils and the seventh designed by students of Nottingham Trent University.
