The Root Stock

Went to TPIE (Tropical Plant Industries Exposition) in Ft. Lauderdale. A 3 day orgy of the newest in tropical plants (think plants produced for houseplant use or outdoor plants for the tropical and semi-tropical parts of the world and everything connected to them.) For plant addicts, it is a therapeutic challenge to see if you can laugh in their stunningly beautiful blossoms and walk away unmoved. I failed miserably.

The "root stock", in this case, are the first generation remainders of the first families of the major south Florida nurseries. These are the nurseries that, for instance, provide the millions of those leafy indoor plants to grace the living rooms of those who patronize the big box DYI stores.
