Simple Pleasures

Margaret’s friend Alpha and her son Adam were to return to Wellington this evening. So we had a last beach session at Breaker Bay which is just over the hill from the Kaiteriteri camp. One walks there, carrying all the necessary beach gear. Beach seats, sun umbrellas, towels and picnic lunch.
Breaker Bay is aptly named. There are often breakers crashing on the beach there whilst the sea around the corner at Kaiteriteri beach is invariably sedate.
There was a brisk sea breeze blowing at the Bay and the sea was roughing up somewhat. I ventured in for a swim with the kids…. Their mums sat reading on their beach seats on the golden sand. The water was brrr… very cold but I toughed it out. Emily and Adam were having a ball with “noodles” and a “li-low” inflatable bed. Both are real water babies and good swimmers. Luckily, because just as I captured this image they were up-ended by a rather large wave!
